Little Mermaid and the Rubber Chicken

I met a mermaid today; the little mermaid. She was quietly sitting at the edge of the harbour in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Copenhagen is a beautiful city filled with palaces, fountains, cobblestone streets and more. I even got to watch the changing of the guards at Ameliaborg Palace.

Feathers and Finns

Sunshine warmed my rubber skin as I caught the ferry from Helsinki, Finland’s Market Square to Suomenlinna Sea Fortress. Which was just one of the many places we explored in Helsinki.

Roosting in the Hermitage

I love St. Petersburg, Russia. There are so many beautiful palaces and buildings. The history of this city rivals any Hollywood movie.

The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg was the Winter Palace of Catherine the Great. It now is a world class museum. My favourite piece was the gold peacock clock.

Clucking Around Aarhus, Denmark

Today I visited Aarhus, Denmark. The Vikings first created a settlement in this location around 770AD. Aarhus is Denmark’s second largest city with a population of 325,000 and its own university.

There are many wonderful sculptures, fountains and pieces of art in Aarhus. Denmark’s largest cathedral is also here and a wonderful outdoor museum called Den Gamle By (old Town Museum).

Somethings Fowl in Denmark

Today I visited the small northern town of Skagen in Northern Denmark.

There is an old church in this fishing village that has been completely buried in sand except for its tower.

Somethings Fowl Amongst the Tulips

There is no better place to tip toe through the tulips then at the tulip festival at Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands.

An interesting side note, tulips originated in the areas between Turkey and China.
