Laying Low at Otavalo Market

One of the most exciting markets in Ecuador happens every Saturday in Otavalo. Both tourists and locals frequent this market filled with booths selling local crafts, household supplies, fresh local produce, meats and more. When I saw the chickens, I knew it was time to keep a low profile.

On our way to the market, we visited the equator.

I also saw the beautiful San Pablo Lake beside an active volcano!

We ended the day at Cotacachi National Park.

Chicken on an Active Volcano

I was up in the clouds on an active volcano in Ecuador today. The volcano is called Cotopaxi and it is the second highest active volcano in the world.

I even got to see some wild horses. The lama was spotted at a restaurant on our way back to the chalet.

Scratching Around the South Side of Mauritius

The South of Mauritius has Highlands which are home to the beautiful waterfall and the Seven Coloured Sands.

The seven coloured sands are in a small dune area. The chemistry of the soil creates the different colours. What is remarkable  is that the colours never mix, they always remain separate.

I also went on a local rum distillery tour. I didn’t taste any because I’m not of age yet.

I did Taste many flavours of tea after the tour at the Bois Cheri’s Tea Plantation. Unfortunately they didn’t have any dry grain to eat with my tea.

Port Louis on the Fly

I had a busy day in Port Louis.

I started out at the Caudan Waterfront where I visited the Blue Penny Museum. Apparently, rubber chickens get free intermission when smuggled in Mom’s purse.

Before The Dodo bird became extinct, Mauritius was the only place they lived. You can find all manner of Dodo likenesses around the island.

I flapped my way up the many steps to the citadel where I had a great view of the city.

I was greatly disturbed by the carnage I observed when walking through the meat and poultry market.

Overall, Port Louis is a very fun city to visit.

Chicken in a Windmill

Here I am in the Netherlands: land of the windmills. In old times, windmills were used to help move water from one place to another.
